How to Use Park Assist Technology

 

While Mercedes-Benz PARKTRONIC® technology is bound to seem futuristic, you won’t have to worry about much of a learning curve. Here’s how to use park assist in a modern Mercedes-Benz vehicle:

  1. Scan for Parking Spots: As you pull up to your destination around East Greenwich at 20 mph or less, the PARKTRONIC® technology scans for suitable parking spots. It identifies spots by measuring the distance between vehicles on both sides of the road, and once it calculates a spot with enough room, an arrow will appear on the display.
  2. Select Your Gear: From there, learning how to use park assist in your C-Class is as simple as shifting into reverse and pressing “OK”. The system recognizes you’re ready to park and will begin to steer you into position, you just have to control the throttle and brake. If you’re too close to other vehicles, the PARKTRONIC® sensors will let you know.
  3. Make Adjustments: The Mercedes-Benz parking assist feature may get you perfectly in the parking spot on the first try, but it will still ask you to shift into drive and back to reverse to finish the job. The system will take over steering again while you shift gears and ease off the brakes.
