C-Class vs. 3-Series: Performance

As we noted above, both models come standard with a smartly-sized and efficient turbocharged engine. Each also includes standard rear-wheel drive, and offers all-wheel drive as an optional upgrade. Below, we’ve highlighted a few important differences.

• Transmissions: The 3 Series is only offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With the Mercedes-Benz, you’ll receive the celebrated 9G-TRONIC® 9-speed automatic transmission. Upgrade with an AMG® model to enjoy an even more finely-crafted sport-tuned 9-speed.
• Engine Options: The 3 Series is only offered with one additional engine, a 382-hp turbocharged V6. With the C-Class, drivers who upgraded will be rewarded with a 385-hp twin-turbocharged V6, a 469-hp twin-turbocharged V8, or a 503-hp twin-turbocharged V8.
• Fuel Tank: Although the 3 Series does slightly better on fuel economy, the larger C-Class fuel tank allows you to spend less time making stops to refuel. You’ll fill up with 17.4 gallons, vs. 15.6 in the 3 Series.

C-Class vs. 3 Series: Luxury Features

Drivers in East Greenwich and Cranston only have good things to say about the C-Class sedan’s elegant design features. A vintage-inspired analog clock and wood/aluminum trimming are just two of the standout inclusions. Additionally, any driver who pits the BMW 3 Series vs. Mercedes-Benz C-Class will notice several significant differences in their respective feature lists:

• Standard Features: Every C-Class comes standard with HANDS-FREE ACCESS®, ATTENTION ASSIST®, and an infotainment system that utilizes the most advanced voice recognition technology. To get any similar features in the 3 Series, you’ll need to pay extra or upgrade your trim.
• Optional Features: Drivers can choose to outfit their C-Class with cooled and ventilated front seats, as well as Car-to-X Communication! Neither is available in the base 3 Series trim, and Car-to-X Communication is exclusive to the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
