Luxury vehicle aficionados have plenty of choices out there. Two of the more prominent ones are Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. Both manufacturers have great selections of vehicles, but we think that Mercedes-Benz comes out ahead in the Mercedes-Benz vs. Lexus discussion every time for Providence and East Greenwich drivers.

Take a look at which option is better in the Lexus vs. Mercedes-Benz debate. Our guide from Mercedes-Benz of Warwick will point the way to which manufacturer has a better profile as a whole.

Mercedes-Benz vs. Lexus History

Both automakers are popular in the United States, with dealerships everywhere. Yet Mercedes-Benz has a much longer history of manufacturing cars. Mercedes-Benz is its own standalone brand, and it was founded in Germany in 1926. One of its subsidiaries tests and manufactures racing engines for Formula One cars, some of the fastest race cars in the world that reach speeds of 215 mph but have been pushed to go as fast as 230 mph.

Meanwhile, Lexus is the luxury brand of Toyota. It was founded in 1989 and is Japan’s largest luxury vehicle manufacturer. Lexus races with its Lexus RC F GT3 on IMSA tracks.

Lexus vs. Mercedes-Benz: 2023 Models Out

Mercedes-Benz has plenty of models out for 2023 with 78 models and trims. Meanwhile, Lexus has a much narrower vision with 11 models and an average of three trims per model for around 33 total releases. Many of the Mercedes-Benz models had no or very minor changes from the 2022 versions, but they were made for the 2023 model year.

Both manufacturers released all-new electric SUVs for the model year 2023 as part of their redesign as more Americans want electric vehicles in their garages. Both companies form a vital part of the EV investment in the coming years.

Mercedes-Benz vs. Lexus: American Presence

Mercedes-Benz has two assembly plants in the United States, one in South Carolina and the other in Alabama. The one in South Carolina manufactures Sprinter vans. The Alabama assembly plant makes GLE, GLS, and all-new EQS SUVs.

Meanwhile, there is one Lexus assembly plant in the United States, located in Georgetown, Kentucky. For dealership numbers, Mercedes-Benz has the edge with 383 American dealerships to just 244 for Lexus.

Is Lexus or Mercedes-Benz Better?

We would like to think Mercedes-Benz comes out on top simply because the Mercedes-Benz brand is more popular among enthusiasts and experts, and the automaker produced more vehicles in 2023. Plus, there are more dealerships in the United States as well as more assembly plants with higher outputs.
